Research interests

Dr. Yeung鈥檚 overarching research goal is translating mathematical models to significantly advance our understanding of drug pharmacokinetics in understudied populations. Her focus is on reducing adverse drug reactions and improving patient health among populations often left out of the drug development process including preterm infants, neonates, and breastfeeding maternal-infant dyads. Dr. Yeung has three research aims: 1) Discover and overcome barriers to implementing model-informed precision dosing for commonly administered drugs in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit using population pharmacokinetic (popPK) modeling; 2) Establish accuracy and precision of drug exposure predictions in preterm infants using an improved preterm physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) model; and 3) Identify drugs for infant breastfeeding risk prioritization and increase clinician certainty in advising breastfeeding mothers taking medications.
